Our driver's license policy is offered by HDI Seguros. This type of policy is ideal if you wish to simply have liability coverage to drive different eligible vehicles. Driver's license policies cover only the driver(s) listed on the policy.

Driver's License Policy Features:

  • Liability-only coverage - no full coverage available
  • Annual policy only
  • Limits of liability (this pays third parties) offered: US $50,000, US $70,000 or US $100,000
  • Medical payments for occupants of the insured vehicle of either US $2,000 per person up to US $10,000 or US $5,000 per person up to US $25,000 per accident
  • Legal aid and bail bond
  • One driver per policy available online
  • Two driver policy available by contacting us (1-888-552-2252)
  • Valid for autos, trucks, vans, SUVs
  • Motorcycles and motorhomes are not eligible
  • Other “high risk” and luxury vehicles may not eligible (we can request permission in some cases; call us at 1-888-552-2252)
  • No Mexican plated vehicles or Mexican driver’s licenses are eligible
  • Rental vehicles (from the U.S. or Mexico) may not be driven under this type of policy
  • No roadside assistance

When is a driver’s license policy a good option to choose?

Generally, driver’s license policies are convenient if you are not concerned about having a full coverage policy (full coverage policies include physical damage and theft coverage) and you would like the freedom to drive different eligible vehicles. Many policyholders who choose this policy drive older vehicles or vehicles that are paid off.

What if other drivers drive my vehicle?

This policy only covers the driver(s) specifically listed on the policy, so if you let other family members or friends drive, they will not be covered. They will either require their own driver’s license policy or it may be more convenient and cost effective to simply buy a policy that covers the vehicle instead (since other eligible drivers will be covered without being listed).

Policies start at $124.80 for one person and $143.44 for two people.
